Think College Collaborators
Think College is a national initiative that reflects collaboration of key organizations, individuals and families working together to improve opportunities for postsecondary education for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Collaborators include:
Association of University Centers of Excellence (AUCD), coordinates a network of interdisciplinary University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) designed to advance policy and practice for and with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families, and communities. AUCD maintains a special interest group and conducts significant policy and advocacy work in the area of postsecondary education for individuals with developmental disabilities. Center on Disability Studies at the University of Hawaii: A University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, supporting the quality of life, community inclusion, and self-determination of all persons with disabilities and their families. The Center for Disability Studies is the coordinator of the Rehabilitation Research Center on PSE for Students with Disabilities and provided support for the research of ICI and Debra Hart to look at the impact that postsecondary education has on students with intellectual disabilities and post school outcomes.

Institute for Community Integration at the University of Minnesota: A University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, whose mission is to improve the community services and social supports available to individuals with developmental and other disabilities and their families. ICI at the University of Minnesota brings significant expertise in the area of transition for students with developmental disabilities, as the coordinator of the National Center for Secondary Education Transition.

The mission of the Tarjan Center is to provide leadership in education, research and innovative practices that supports the quality of life and community inclusion of all people with disabilities. The Tarjan Center serves as a bridge between the university and persons with disabilities from state, regional and local communities, state and local government agencies and community providers. The Tarjan Center has recently established a new initiative known as Open the Doors to College. This initiative will create opportunities for students with developmental disabilities in California to transition into post secondary education.

The Center for Disability Resources (CDR) is a University Centers for Excellence in developmental disabilities education, research and service, located at the University of South Carolina. Their mission is to enhance the well-being and quality of life of persons with disabilities and their families. CDR collaborates with persons with disabilities and their families to develop new knowledge and best practices, train leaders, and effect systems change. Currently, CDS is working at USC and with several other colleges in South Carolina to establish postsecondary options for students with developmental disabilities.

The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC) is a University Center of Excellence in DD. Their mission is to improve the quality of life of persons with disorders caused by the disruption of typical development. VKC supports and applies scientific research to bring better services and training to the community. They are currently operating a college program for students with developmental disabilities in collaboration with the DD Council of Tennessee.
