What's Happening in Your State

In a growing number of states across the country, there are state level activities, with collaborative groups of key stakeholders working together to promote postsecondary education for students with intellectual disabilities statewide.

Many of these efforts have resulted in websites that pull together information that highlight what is going on in the state.  We have provided links to those pages, when available.  A contact email for the person involved in coordinating the state level activities and a link to see the college programs in each state is also provided.

If your state has activities you would like to share on this page, email us!

Wisconsin Strategic Plan for Inclusive PSE

In 2011 the Waisman Center received a strategic planning grant to coordinate the development of a Wisconsin state plan. This plan represents a commitment to supporting the lifelong learning of all individuals in Wisconsin. Through summits and numerous conversations, stakeholders in our state shared their ideas, experiences, and suggestions for expanding college options. The plan includes three goals to support our state's development of more inclusive college opportunities. 1. Assure Leadership is in place to promote development of postsecondary education opportunities. 2. Make best use of the K-12 experience to prepare students for postsecondary education. 3. Nurture development of postsecondary opportunities in colleges and universities.
